This weekend was to be the ARES monthly meeting, It will be canceled. The AEC’s will be out of town or unable to make the meeting.
My family has decided after 22 years we should have a family gathering and has made it on March 17th at 1pm. This is an impotent gathering and I will not be able to make the meeting.
We had a few subjects we planed on covering that will have to be covered at another meeting.
- Field Day Location. The poll is still up on the volusiaares.org site but at this point the majority have voted for UF/IFAS Extension formerly the agricultural extension center. This year we are focusing on preparation. Right now we will have a class on making powerpole adapters for your equipment so we all have a standard power plug when we need to combine equipment. There will be more posted later.
Planning for a SET Simulate Emergency Test. We are in the early planning stages for a SET in the next 3 to 4 months. This will be a task based deployment. You will be asked to bring all your equipment you would normally take with you. That includes HF, VHF, Voice and Digital equipment. You will be given a closed envelope with timed tasks.
At the Symposium I attended in Gainesville a few weeks ago we did the same thing. Everyone involved enjoyed. I think this will be a fun experience for everyone.
The next meeting will be April 21. The agenda for that meeting will be net procedures training.. This is for everyone not just people wanting to become a net control station. In this class we will cover proper net procedures, see what really happens behind the mic of NCS and ways to help NCS and the volunteers checking in.
I hope to see you all at Aprils meeting.
